Charred Shrub
Description
This problem is the main line up this boulder. It's the longest way up, and kind of central to the formation. You're on route if you face a more steep area starting about 5 feet up and lasting 4 feet. Kind of a tough place to get a crash pad in nicely, so try to pre-empt falls and jump a bit to the right, or traverse out of the problem.
Location
Set out on the trail that starts from the south end of the southmost parking lot. All the parking lots are connected so this won't be hard to find.Sierra avenue is visible running parallel 20 feet to your left. Walk about 75 feet on this trail. You should pass the tunnel on your left by 15 feet. Look directly right. You should be in a burnt shrub area (at least as of 2021) and there's a formation of rocks kind of nestled into the hill with an unobstructed approach about 15 feet to your right (15 feet west of the trail). There is a boulder on the left that sticks out front a bit. If you go right of that boulder, there's a 2 foot by 2 foot boulder at the base of the main face. Start to the right of this boulder as seen in the photo. I would place the crash pad there as well and try to fall to the right.
