Peak Mountain 3

Paleface Arete

FA Jon Sykes, John Bain: '08

Description

Unique and high quality sport route that carves across the top of the Waternomee amphitheater.  Not your everyday climb. Ride the arete, try to stay in rhythm, drop your feet below the lip if you dare. Save some fuel for a tricky section at the top. 9 bolts.

Gets 3 stars in the Sykes book; I don't disagree but for MP I gave it 3 out of 4. The 10a rating felt spot-on. Tricky for an onsight because it's so weird, but ultimately the moves are on grade.

Note: This sucker goes way the hell right from the start, so cleaning on the lower would be impossible.

Location

All the way left. Look for the bolts trimming the edge of the imposing steep wall. End at a tree with crispy disconcerting TAT in the middle of the wall.

Protection

9 bolts and a tat anchor
