Peak Mountain 3

Greensprings

Description

[Edit]

Greensprings is a column formation that is comprised of a fine-grained hornblede granodiorite (which is similar to granite), with lots of edges, knobs and sloping feet. The area offers some trad climbing for an otherwise sport-dominated region. Top access for anchors does exist, but loose scree on top is a notable hazard, especially if there are climbers below. The crag is located on private property, and the landowner is okay with public access but please be courteous and respect the area for continued access. There is also a second bluff above the main one, but is not climbed on for privacy's sake.Greensprings contains around 30 established climbs, and the routes vary in length, with some columns getting up to almost 100 feet tall. There are few routes below 5.10, and several routes 5.11 and above that see little traffic. Be prepared for enough moss to grow a garden on less trafficked climbs. The crag gets afternoon sun, so it's a great cold weather crag but gets quite hot in the summer.
