Description
[Edit]Bee Rock is considered the first developed climbing area of the Cumberland Plateau. It was climbed back in the early 70’s using aid climbing techniques. The first ascents for free climbing were done by legends Frank Sanders, Eddie Whittemore, Mark Cartwright, Arno Ilgner. The routes are good-quality sandstone. The cliff is easy to access and very conveniently located 5 minutes from the Monterey exit on I40. It became a popular destination for Tennessee Tech students in the 80’s because they could leave their dorm room and be at Bee in 15 minutes.
