Peak Mountain 3

g. Walsh

Description

[Edit]

Mostly less-than-vertical with interesting large features. Routes 50-70 feet tall, Facing mainly SSE.

Cool weather nice due to favorable exposure. Much is shaded by mature trees, so not as hot as might expect on hot days.

Top-Roping: Access to set up anchors by top of cliff is likely simplest by scrambling up around Right (SE) side, but slippery.

Name: Tim Walsh and Lucas Kovalcik launched and then expanded a new approach to indoor climbing that is used and loved by many NJ NY PA climbers. The Gravity Vault climbing gym in Chatham NJ is 35 miles from the usual Cranberry Hollow parking, and the GV in Flemington is 37 miles.

warning: Loose rock is still a concern in this sector. Belayer or other members of party should not stand anywhere near underneath the climber or underneath a leader setting up top anchor.

. . . (Lots of vegetation on this rock as of 2018. Be prepared when climbing to navigate around protruding trees and branches, and dealing with holds slippery with grass, lichen, moss, dirt).
