Eagle Rock
Description
[Edit]Eagle Rock is clearly visible from the North Umpqua Highway just up river from Copeland Creek. It lies above the north bank, just uphill of the North Umpqua River. Eagle Rock is a shallow intrusive rhyodacitic dome about 400 feet tall on the river side, but only about 80 feet tall from the north uphill "Parkway Saddle". A large ledge known as the Parkway contours around Eagle Rock in both directions from the Parkway Saddle. There is a summit register on Eagle Rock.
A Peregrine closure is in effect each season until two weeks after the young have fledged (no later than July 15). PG = exposure and leads generally may be unsuited to someone transitioning from gym to outdoor climbing at the same rating.
