Description
East Chimney is a steeper, technical alternative to Homestretch that's most likely ignored by most people traversing across the Narrows.
Scramble up on good ledges and flakes that feature an abundance of positive holds. The easiest line most likely trends to the left as the chimney tightens up and the right hand side wall rises well above you, taking on the appearance of stacked sandbags.
Top out at the summit plateau, and walk the few hundred feet to the true summit.
Location
The start of East Chimney is located on the Narrows section of the Keyhole route, a few hundred feet northwest of the start of Homestretch. Start looking out for the route after topping out the Trough. Look for a deep crack in a depression on the wall. Two such features in the wall above fit this description - the first being West Chimney; the second, East Chimney.
Protection
A light rack, if any.
