Rathke's Traverse
Description
This is a low traverse that slowly gets a bit higher as you work your way further to the left. It has a technical crux of hand holds that are hard to see, as well as an endurance crux.
Unlike many of the established climbs like Potato Chips and Dougs Roof where climbers have excavated the top soil to for setting anchors, this climb has dirt all along the top of the cliff so it is in constant need of brushing each day you attempt it. The feet, the hands, it all needs brushed... every single hold gets very sandy.
Be careful about potential ankle breaker on the rail road tie.
Location
Start about 8 feet right of the big long flat rail...Find a slopey sidepull for your right hand and a three finger flat edge for your left hand, right into a big slot and match in there then work your way over to the big long rail where people put their feet on three mules...Stay low with your hands on that long rail instead of your feet traversing over with some smears for your feet until you get to better feet with some good hidden edges. Keep going all the way over into the pockets for The Pretzel where this climb ends. Match with both hands on the final pocket to the left.
