The Sail

Description

The Sail is a very interesting compression climb. Start with your left hand around waist height on a sloper and your right hand low in the crack about 3 inches under the diagonal curve in the crack. Climb up the compression feature. A toehook out right helps with the crux at the top. Utilize crimps, meat-wraps and mini pinches before reaching bucket jugs at the top. It could be easier to just crack climb the whole thing, but who wants to do that?

The original line avoided the large, detached flake on the left side of the boulder. However, many now opt to cam their foot in the flake and have suggested that this makes the climb a few grades easier.

Location

It is the front line of the Sail Boulder.

Protection

2 pads.
