Hydro-Electric Shock

FA Tom Slater 7-2011

Description

A delicate slab climb ends at a roof where a vertical knob studded climb resumes. An excellent route, definitely the most diverse climb on the wall.

Location

Starts off the pointy block. Thin friction leads past two bolts (crux is getting to the roof). Once at the roof, place a cam and move right and up over the roof (use a long runner) and ascend the spectacular face between two closely spaced water grooves (runnels). 3 bolts protect this upper section, and 2' slings are ideal for additional pro.

Note:  The FA was well underway when a vicious thundershower ensued and placing additional bolts was out of the question on the sprint to the top. So the 3 upper bolts were added on the second ascent when it was safe to do so.

Protection

5 bolts, knob slings, gear to .5"
