The "toughest" route on the narrow face of The Shield. Start up the blankish center and tend slightly left to the jug/ledge where you can match hands. Pull onto the ledge - the left arete is off route! Climb the featured, center face with some layback moves coupled with high feet. Pull through the top groove to the false-summit ledge, and scramble up the final step to the trees. A few pumpy slopers require good friction.
Location
This goes up the center of The Shield. Start up the blankish center section, and continue straight up toward the top groove. The left arete is off route!
