- Edit (TBD)
Description
This short (~50') wall has three distinct sections for the new climber: starting with an easy bottom section (~20'), a challenging middle section with a shelf for contemplation (~20'), and a crimpy finish (~10').
There are breakaway gneiss flakes up the left side and sturdy flakes and nubs up the center. There are easy cracks and ledges up the right.
Location
Hike into McGregor Camp from the Lumpy Ridge TH. Turn East (left) onto the Dark Mountain Trail and at about 1/2 mile, you'll pass boulders that extend down the hill to the trail on your right. Hike up the hill, scrambling over dead & down trees to the apparent horizon due North. Keep an eye out for a small, notched, red wall. Access to the top anchors is an easy scramble, or do a longer hike up and around the back of the wall.
Protection
Bring 20-30' slings for boulders & tree anchors at the top. Vector for right or center. Edge protection necessary for sharp rock along top edge.
