Description
This route follows the ridge from the low point between Mt Helen and Sacajawea. The route I followed stayed very close to the ridge crest all the way up. Good clean rock all the way up, and spectacular views of Titcomb Basin and the Winds. I descended by down climbing the east ridge (4th class), then dropping onto the glacier and walking back to the start of the route.
I saw no evidence of human traffic on the approach, and not much evidence on the route (one rap anchor, one cairn). There were a few cairns on the east ridge. I can't see anyone walking into Titcomb Basin just to do this route, but if you're in the vicinity and have a day it makes for a fun adventure.
Location
Just past the north end of Upper Titcomb Lake, zigzag up to the low point between Mt. Helen and Mt. Sacagawea.
Protection
At most a light alpine rack. This is a great route to solo or tandem solo.
